VI Technology Multimedia Test System (MMTS)
The VI Technology Multimedia Test System (MMTS) is a fully-integrated measurement system that delivers the fastest path to analog & digital audio and video measurements for multimedia devices. This system significantly reduces testing time for multimedia-capable devices such as DVD players, set-top boxes, smart phones, mobile devices, computers, and video game consoles.
The MMTS includes the necessary hardware, software, algorithms, and extensions for testing analog video, digital video, analog audio, digital audio (S/PDIF), power measurements, as well as USB, modem, and Ethernet connectivity. The MMTS is based on the National Instruments PXI platform and relies on the latest measurement technology to deliver very precise, accurate, and reliable results.

Benefits
Speed: The MMTS incorporates the latest test and measurement technology as well as the best system integration practices to deliver the fastest measurements. The expected average test time for a set-top box using the MMTS in a production environment is 20 seconds, yielding typical test performance increases of up to 30X.
Scalability: The MMTS is based on off-the-shelf, modular instruments making it very scalable and adaptable to changing needs. The system hardware, connectivity, and signal routing can be easily expanded to test new signals and new devices by just adding the necessary modules. The software is also designed in such a manner that it readily recognizes the new modules and new tests can be developed and also added in a modular fashion.
Cost: The MMTS is very cost-effective in terms of initial investment as well as cost of ownership. The starting price of $32,900 is achieved through the use of commercial off-the-shelf technology. In addition, the MMTS is an all-in-one system that reduces cost by not requiring separate expensive boxed instruments for individual tests or signals. The system can test more devices in less time increasing throughput which reduces costs and time in testing. The user configurable settings substantially minimize development and deployment costs and invested time. All these features make the MMTS a cost effective solution that can be easily maintained and upgraded.
Throughput: The MMTS is based on software and hardware that takes full advantage of the latest processor technology and leverages parallel resource usage enabling the test of up to 4 UUTs simultaneously. Using National Instruments’ highly-integrated PXI, LabVIEW, and TestStand platforms, the MMTS enables the most efficient communications through tight timing, triggering, and synchronization mechanisms as well as native software routines designed especially for the available hardware.
User configurable: We designed the MMTS based on our 17 years of experience in system integration and automated test system design yielding the best and most intuitive approach to configuring and using the system. Test engineers and technicians can define the test parameters in easy-to-use user interfaces without the need for programming, as well as a point-and-click interface for selecting the desired tests.
Test data management: The software in the MMTS readily includes the ability to automatically export data and results in CSV format. In addition, it includes all the necessary interfaces and functions to easily integrate with VI Technology’s award winning Arendar Enterprise Test Software to provide engineers and managers instant access to design, characterization, validation, and verification, as well as manufacturing test information across the enterprise through automatic report generation and a web-accessible customized dashboard.
All-in-one system: The MMTS eliminates the need for stand-alone measurement devices. This provides users with 3 main advantages: reduced foot print on the production floor, no external timing and synchronization mechanisms between measurement devices, and ensured integrity and proper correlation of all acquired signals. In addition, by having one full-featured system, you rely on one vendor for customization and support instead of relying on multiple vendors.
